“It’s always darkest before the dawn” is something my mom would say to me when I felt like the floor was falling out from under me. Not just during the normal everyday drama but the real life laid off, can’t pay our bills, getting evicted from our apartment, where are we going to live kinda shit. Even from the depths of despair her words would put a crack of light in my darkness. I put my focus on that light, that little beacon of hope that I mattered and had a purpose and that not only would things be good but someday they would be Great!!! It changed my focus therefore changing my thoughts and my choices, if my thoughts wandered to the despair so would my focus and my life. It never failed me and now I know why!! Where you put your focus, your attention, where your mind spends most of it’s time hanging out is the direction your life veers too! When we get all worked into a nervous frenzy worried about a problem we go into a negative thought circle where we go over and over the problem and how terrible it is and how it’s not our fault and there’s nothing we can do about it…why me blah blah freakin blahhhh!!! The more you roll in these negative thoughts the more you believe them and the more stuck you will get. Take your power back and find your crack of light!!! As soon as there’s a problem start an all hands on deck search for a solution so you know where to put your focus:
1) What is your intention/purpose??? What do you want this
situation to look/feel like in 3-6 months and/or even 1-5
years? What feels right in your heart?
2) Write the answers to the above questions like it’s already
happening. Spend time there and really feel it, love it, and
make it yours. No rules no limits!!
3) What can you do right now to head toward your solution?
Well, if you did the first two steps congratulation!! You are
already focusing on a solution and heading in the right
direction!! You are controlling the outcome of your life.
Just keep taking steps toward your solution as often as
possible. If the steps feel overwhelming break them
down into small manageable steps that we call turtle steps.
If you get stuck start over!
This should be focused on you not someone else and how you want them to act different or change so you can have what you want. It is not someone else’s responsibility to give us what we need It’s ours and ours alone. If you find your thoughts headed back to the nervous frenzy problem thoughts just notice this and bring your focus back to the solution. I know the problem feels so real but it never serves you to hang out there. We are loving ourselves when we are letting go of what no longer serves us and focus on our true intention/purpose…that beacon of hope that always keeps us moving forward.
